Rev. E. E. Cunnington (Edward Ernest Cunnington) lived from 1863 to 1950. He was an English clergyman and chess writer best known for instructional works such as Chess Openings for Beginners and other pedagogical texts aimed at club and improving players. His books were widely used in the early to mid-20th century for introductory chess instruction, and many remained in print in revised editions even after his death, which explains the later edition dates (e.g., 1940s–1950s printings) often seen on surviving copies.
